SPARKLING FUTURE FOR NEW SOVIO

Sovio has launched a new 5.5% ABV Sparkling White Zinfandel Rosé which will initially be available in Tesco at an RRP £4.99.

With Sovio's lighter style, yet all the flavour and aroma of consumers' regular wine choices, Sovio Wines is confident of an enthusiastic consumer reception to its 5.5% product.

Sovio Wines is an affiliate of California's TFC Wines & Spirits, Inc. whose Technical Director David Stevens uses the TFC Method - a world first combination of winemaker know-how and cutting edge technology - to lower the level of alcohol in his wines without reduction in taste or aroma. The lower alcohol level results in a much lower duty rate than for conventional wines, and that saving directly benefits the consumer.

Sovio and TFC recently commissioned the largest known consumer research project into the lower alcohol wine category. "The findings show there is overwhelming demand for a lighter style, providing that it exhibits all the aroma and flavour of a good wine," explains Sovio's General Manager Tony Cass. "This has the potential to grow the wine market as a whole as consumers say they would prefer lighter wines on occasions such as mid-week, lunchtimes, or a warm spring or summer day, when in the past they may have decided conventional wines were too high in alcohol. Until now they have had to make a quality sacrifice with low alcohol alternatives, whereas Sovio 5.5% has the advantage of being a 100% serious wine with all its original flavour," he says.

Sovio 5.5%, a softly sparkling Rosé from California, is available in both 75cl and 25cl sizes. All Trade enquiries to Tony Cass, Sovio Wines - 01252 302339.
